How do contact lens work?

One of the most important parts of our body is the eyes. The eyes are the only part of the body which contains tissue that does not have any blood vessels, which is the cornea.

The cornea plays an important part of the overall function of the eye. It is a smooth outer shell that forms an arc over the iris and pupil. The cornea is completely clear which is why it does not have any blood vessels. The cornea gets oxygen from the air and does this by dissolving the tears and diffusing it throughout the cornea.

When creating contact lens, scientists had to overcome the issue with preventing oxygen from reaching the cornea.

There are two types of contact lenses. Hard and soft. Hard lens are made from materials called Rigid Gas Permeable which allow oxygen to pass through it. Soft contact lens are made from plastic and this plastic is able to absorb water and pass it to the eye.

Contact lens are readily available online from stores such as Clearly Contacts who have great deals especially when there is a Clearly Contacts coupon available. A Clearly Contacts coupon reduces the cost of your purchase.
